Businesses occupying industrial spaces like warehouses and manufacturing facilities have special needs for phone and office communication. Employees could be operating machinery or literally have their hands full with inventory, and unable to pick up the phone. Telzio has a solution for that.
With intercom and paging systems, you can easily communicate with workers on the floor.
Telzio’s intercom and paging features are included with phone service at no extra cost and integrates seamlessly with the business phone system. With office phones like the Grandstream GXP2170, you can use the intercom and paging feature easily. No other hardware, equipment, or software is needed to use the intercom and paging features with Telzio. And since calling between extensions is free with Telzio, using the intercom or paging feature doesn't cost a thing.

What is Intercom?
Telzio’s intercom feature allows you to create a 2-way call to any extension without requiring the called extension to answer the call. If the phone you’re calling supports intercom, the phone will typically play a sound, and answer the call in speaker mode.
How Does Intercom Work?
You can dial an extension in intercom mode in two ways:
- Dial * + extension (example: *150 to reach extension 150).
- If your phone has speed dial buttons (for example the Grandstream GXP2130, GXP2160 and GXP2170), you can assign a button using the Intercom button type, and enter the username of the extension you want to reach as the value.
Setting Up
Most phones must be set up to allow for incoming intercom calls to be answered automatically. See below on how to set up the Grandstream GXP-series phones.
1. Log on to your phone’s web interface, by entering it’s IP in your web browser. The standard username and password is “admin”.
2. Go to: Accounts -> Account 1 -> Call Settings
3. Set “Allow Auto Answer by Call-Info” to “Yes“.
4. Click on “Save and Apply“.
What is Paging?
Paging allows you to establish a one-way call to an extension or a user group. This is good for broadcasting a message to one or more employees.
How Does Paging Work?
Dial the following on your phone to start a paging call:
- *84 – This will page all users in your account.
- *<group extension> – This will page all users in a group. Example: (*100) will page all users in the group that has extension 100. You can set the extension for a user group on the Users page.
